Aged and Disability Advocacy Australia (ADA Australia) is a not-for-profit, independent organisation that serves metropolitan, regional, rural, and remote communities across Queensland, including Mackay. Our mission is to improve the well-being of seniors and those living with disability through our advocacy services.

In Mackay, our team offers aged care advocacy services and support for people with mental health conditions to access and navigate the justice system. Our services are also free, confidential, and client-focused. We always put our clients first, and they’re at the heart of all our decisions. You tell us your preferences, requirements, and where you need assistance.

ADA Australia’s Mackay Services

The ADA Australia Mackay team provides an aged care advocacy service for seniors in the area. We help people understand their rights and needs and advocate for them. Our team can assist if you or a loved one needs help accessing aged care services and support or addressing concerns. We can also help explain any financial assessments and fees regarding aged care support. 

Through our ADA Law program, we also provide free legal support to people with mental health conditions living in Mackay to access and navigate the justice system. 

This service can help people living in Mackay with mental health conditions with:

  • Representation at the Mental Health Review Tribunal with hearings about ECT applications; Forensic Order Reviews; Treatment Support Orders; Treatment Authorities and Review of Treatment Authorities for people under 18 years of age
  • Representation at QCAT regarding guardianship and administration matters
  • Advocacy
  • Liaison with the Public Trustee or Office os the Public Guardian
  • Referral to other legal, consumer and support services
