Who is eligible
Human rights legal service & advocacy
Adults who have a current QCAT hearing scheduled, or about to be scheduled. This includes adults with:
- Impaired decision-making capacity, who are unhappy with their appointed decision maker and wish to make changes
- Questionable decision-making capacity, who are at high risk of having appointed decision-makers put in place.
We may also assist adults who have questionable or impaired decision-making capacity and are unhappy with their current Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA) or Advance Health Directive.
Elder abuse advocacy
Adults over 65 years who are:
- residing in residential aged care; and
- experiencing or at risk of experiencing abuse from their formal (Enduring Powers of Attorney) or informal decision makers, family, carers or friends.
Mental health review tribunal
People who have a current MHRT hearing scheduled and who:
- Have been referred to us by Legal Aid Queensland.
- Live in the Townsville region
- Are seniors receiving our SLASS service
Seniors Legal and Support Service (SLASS) Outback QLD
Older people who are experiencing elder abuse, mistreatment or financial exploitation in western and outback Queensland.
Mental Health Legal Support Townsville
Adults with mental health conditions living in the Townsville region
Where we work
Human rights legal service & advocacy
South east Queensland in the areas from Bundaberg to Toowoomba, and down to the Gold Coast. We may also be able to offer support in other areas of Queensland on a limited case by case basis.
