Our 2027 Seniors Calendar is here! This is our 6th edition of the Queensland Seniors Calendar and for this year’s theme, we are featuring illustrated covers of The Queenslander newspaper, which was a compendium of the week’s news from Brisbane and around Queensland, from 1866 to 1939. Courtesy of the State Library of Queensland.

From Bert Hinklers’s historic flight from London to Australia, and the early days of the Ekka’s Grand Parade, to the much-loved Malvern Star bicycle, the ways of life and important historical events were captured beautifully in illustration in this former weekly publication.

We hope you enjoy this mini time capsule.
